Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By using Serial Air ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Service Description

Serial Air is a wireless serial monitor application that connects to microcontrollers via WiFi and Bluetooth for real-time serial data monitoring.

3. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal and commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

4. Purchase Terms

• 7-day free trial period
• One-time purchase (non-consumable) via App Store / Google Play
• Refunds subject to Apple/Google platform policies

5. User Responsibilities

• Use the App only for lawful purposes
• You are responsible for your own network security
• Not intended for safety-critical or medical applications

6. Prohibited Activities

• Reverse engineering or decompiling the App
• Unauthorized access to other users' devices
• Redistribution or resale of the App
• Use in safety-critical systems without independent validation

7. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in the App are owned by the developer. This license does not transfer any ownership rights.

8. Network Communication & Security

8.1 Communication Methods

The App uses the following communication protocols:

• WiFi (TCP): Unencrypted TCP socket connections over your local network
• Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE): Nordic UART Service without application-level encryption
• mDNS: Multicast DNS for device discovery on local networks

8.2 Security Limitations

• Serial data is transmitted in plaintext and is not encrypted by the App
• Any device on the same network or within BLE range may intercept data
• The Trusted Devices feature provides identification only, not cryptographic authentication
• The App does not implement TLS, SSL, or any transport-layer encryption

8.3 User Responsibility for Security

• You are solely responsible for securing your WiFi network and controlling physical access to BLE range
• Do not transmit passwords, credentials, personal data, or trade secrets via serial connections
• Use of the App on public or unsecured networks is at your own risk
• You are responsible for ensuring that connected devices are not compromised

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

• Serial data transmission may not be 100% accurate or complete
• WiFi and BLE connections may be interrupted, delayed, or fail without notice
• We do not guarantee the security of data transmitted through the App
• We are not responsible for any hardware damage, data loss, or system malfunction resulting from use of the App
• We do not warrant that the App is free from vulnerabilities, errors, or security flaws

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any unauthorized access to or interception of data transmitted via the App
• Any damages resulting from security breaches, hacking, or unauthorized access to connected devices
• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Any loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
• Any damages arising from use of the App in safety-critical, medical, industrial, or mission-critical applications

In jurisdictions where limitation of liability for negligence is restricted, our liability is limited to the amount paid for the App.

11. Service Changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time with or without notice.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.
