Setup guides and answers to common questions. The hardest parts are getting a Gemini API key and choosing your save folder — both are covered below.
Molufu uses your own Gemini API key (bring your own key). The free tier is enough to start, and the key is stored only on your device.
In the app, the same steps are available from the (?) hint next to the API key field. The key is saved in the Android Keystore (encrypted) and never leaves your device except to call the Gemini API directly.
Molufu writes notes to a folder on your phone. Point it at your Obsidian vault (or any folder you sync).
.md note is appended. To sync with other devices, share this folder with a free tool such as Google Drive + Autosync or Syncthing, and turn on keep on device (offline) in the cloud app. Notes are stored on your phone first, so syncing is entirely up to you.
Recording happens on the watch. The phone app is for save and transcription settings.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The watch records and queues memos offline. When your phone is nearby and online, queued recordings are transcribed and saved automatically.
Where does my audio go?
Audio is sent directly to Google's Gemini API using your own key for transcription. It does not pass through any developer server. See the Privacy Policy.
What languages are supported?
The app interface supports 16 languages and follows your device language by default.
